FAQ

  • What days do you perform surgery?Open or Close
We provide our scheduled surgical service Tuesday – Thursday. We can provide emergency surgical services every day during our normal operating hours between 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday through Friday, and Saturday 8:00am - 12:00pm
  • What should I expect the day of surgery?Open or Close
On their scheduled day of surgery, we admit your pet to our hospital between 8:00 am and 9:00am. We instruct that your pet should not be fed the night before surgery after 6:00 pm. Water should be removed the following morning. We are happy to admit your pet to our hospital the day before surgery for convenience if your schedule does not permit a morning appointment.

The technician who will be attending to your pet’s needs throughout the day will discuss the surgical plan for your pet and discuss the pre-anesthetic tests recommended by the doctor, most commonly blood work to assess your pet’s metabolic health, and an EKG to ensure your pet’s heart health.
  • Can I bring my pet's personal items?Open or Close
We provide comfortable bedding for your pet during their stay in our hospital. We welcome you to bring along a special blanket or toy for your pet, but please keep in mind that due to the nature of surgery, their personal items are likely to become soiled. We recommend you keep their belongings at home to aid in their comfort during recovery at home.
  • Can I call to check on my pet's status?Open or Close
We welcome you to call to check on your pet at any time. The surgery technician who is attending to your pet will call you once your pet is recovering from their surgical procedure. We can also send you text updates if you prefer.
  • Can I visit my pet in the hospital?Open or Close
For many of our surgical procedures, we discharge our patients the same day their surgery is performed. If we recommend an extended hospital stay for your pet after surgery, visits are permitted. If you wish to visit your pet, please inform the surgery technician so arrangements can be made to ensure the best care and comfort for your pet.
  • Does my pet have 24-hour care?Open or Close
We do not have 24-hour care at our facility. If our doctor recommends intensive care for your pet, we will refer your pet to one of the emergency and referral hospitals in our area. Visit our referral hospital page to find out more.
  • When will my pet be able to go home?Open or Close
We discharge our patients by appointment with your pet’s surgery technician, primarily in the afternoons after 4pm, Monday through Thursday. The time of your pet’s discharge will vary depending on our surgery schedule and the nature of your pet’s procedure.
